A zoo has attempted to pass off a dog as a lion to its visitors in China, in an extraordinary incident being reported by Chinese state media.
A young boy called out a zoo in China for substituting some of the zoo's animals. CNN's Paula Newton explains. More from CNN at http://www.cnn.com/. Liu and other zoo visitors reportedly paid 15 yuan ($2.45) for the chance to see the dog and other substitute animals up close. And this is far from the only case of animal impersonation in China. There have also been recent reports of Chinese zoo officials painting dogs black and white to make them look like pandas. Zoo In China Swaps Dog For Lion, Hopes No One Notices: The Two-Way The People's Park in central Henan province substituted a Tibetan mastiff when its resident African lion went off to a breeding. In China, some hospitals offer couples a room with a bed, exotic art, sex toys and instruction tapes. It’s an effort to set the mood and encourage couples to get pregnant.
Visitors to the zoo have been left angered after the fraudulent act was revealed.
The revelation came after a visitor, surnamed Liu, reported to the state-run Beijing Youth Daily that she had found out the lion at the zoo was really a dog. She had visited the zoo with her son and had gone to the cage marked 'African lion.' However, they were left stunned when the so-called lion started barking at them.
It has been determined that the fake lion was in fact a Tibetan mastiff - a large, hairy breed of dog. Liu told the Chinese publication: 'The zoo is absolutely trying to cheat us. They are trying to disguise dogs as lions.'
It was later found out that various other animals in the zoo were also fraudulently labeled. One cage labeled as containing wolves also contained a dog, and a so-called leopard also turned out to be a white fox.

A zoo spokesperson has commented that the animals were 'substituted' for various reasons, but they would be returned to their rightful places soon, according to CNN.
More specifically the spokesperson explained that the lion and leopard had been switched as they were taken for breeding purposes. However, the zoo spokesperson failed to satisfactorily explain why fake animals replaced those that had been taken out, simply saying that the dog had been placed in the lion's cage 'due to safety concerns.'
'We're not doing it out of shortage of funds,' the spokesperson also insisted.

China's new-generation space tracking ship Yuanwang-7 is sailing to the Atlantic Ocean for a satellite maritime monitoring mission.
The ship departed from a port of the China Satellite Maritime Tracking and Controlling Department in Jiangsu Province Thursday. It is the first time for Yuanwang-7 to carry out a mission in the Atlantic.
Only one ship of China's Yuanwang fleet, Yuanwang-3, so far has conducted missions in the ocean.
'This time the designated maritime area is remote and the route is new. We estimate that the vessel will sail in waves higher than 4 meters for over 10 days, a tougher journey than before,' said Ni Liuguo, captain of the ship.
Before setting out, crew members were quarantined on the vessel and cabins were disinfected to prevent the novel coronavirus infection. They completed the preparation of medical supplies and examined facilities to ensure the success of the mission.
Yuanwang-7 was developed with the latest technologies in shipbuilding, space measurement and control, marine meteorology and shipping power.

Since it was put into use in 2016, Yuanwang-7 has made 13 voyages and performed 21 tasks in the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean, including maritime tracking of China's second space lab Tiangong-2, the Chang'e-4 lunar probe and BeiDou satellites.
